Alessia Tondo is one of the most important voices in the music scene in the Apulia region. Born in 1991, she was already singing at six-years-old alongside her grand-mother Immaculata in the Salentino band Mera Menhir. Her vocal qualities are immediately spotted by one of the Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino founders, Daniele Durante, who encouraged the potential of the young artist by inviting her to sing in the pizzicas that would close the concerts of the Canzoniere. Just a few years later, she starred in the Sud Sound System song “Le radici ca tieni” which was broadcasted on all Italian radios.
She continued to collaborate with them in live performances and TV shows such as “Rock Politik” on Rai 1 and “Parla con me” (talk to me) on Rai 3. In 2004, at only 13 years of age, she joined the “La Notte della taranta” orchestra as lead singer and undisputed protagonist. She performed with all the greatest guests of the festival and worked with the likes of Ambrogios Sparagna, Mauro Pagani, Ludovico Einaudi, Goran Bregovic, Giovanni Sollima.
From 2006 to 2011, she took part in various appointments of the “Italian Popular Orchestra” in the Auditorium Park of Music in Rome, conducted by Ambrogio Sparagna. She performed on stage alongside outstanding artists such as Peppe Servillo, Simone Cristicchi and Idan Raichel.
In 2008, she registered the track “Yara” on the album “L’immagine di te” for the Radiodervish, which she sings in Griko. In 2012, she wrote the words of the famous composition “Nuvole bianche” (White clouds) for Ludovico Einaudi. It was presented in “La Notte della Taranta” as well as in other festivals such as the “BT River” in London, and it went out in 2015 as second single of his “Taranta Project” album.
Chosen by the composer Admir Shkurtaj as popular voice for the chamber opera “kater I rades. Il Naufragio”, co-produced by the Venice Biennale and Koreja, she made her debut on October 12, 2014 in the 58th International festival of Contemporary Music in the Venice Biennale. She joined the Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino in 2015.

Alessia Tondo è una delle voci più importanti della scena musicale in Puglia. Nata nel 1991, già a sei anni cantava insieme alla Nonna Immacolata nel gruppo salentino Mera Menhir. Le sue qualità vocali sono fin da subito riconosciute da uno dei fondatori del Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, Daniele Durante, che incoraggia le potenzialità della piccola artista invitandola a cantare nelle pizziche che chiudevano i concerti del Canzoniere. Pochi anni dopo viene lanciata dal gruppo reggae Sud Sound System come voce nel brano “Le radici ca tieni” trasmesso in tutte le radio italiane.
Con loro ha continuato a collaborare per live e partecipazioni televisive, come nei programmi “Rock Politik” su Rai 1 e “Parla con me” su Rai 3. Nel 2004, a soli 13 anni, entra in pianta stabile a far parte dell’Orchestra de “La Notte della Taranta” come voce solista e indiscussa protagonista, duetta con tutti i più grandi ospiti del concertone e collabora con i maestri Ambrogio Sparagna, Mauro Pagani, Ludovico Einaudi, Goran Bregovic, Giovanni Sollima. Dal 2006 al 2011 partecipa come ospite ai vari appuntamenti de “Orchestra Popolare Italiana” all’Auditorium Parco della musica di Roma diretta da Ambrogio Sparagna, condividendo il palco con grandi artisti come Peppe Servillo, Simone Cristicchi e Idan Raichel. Nel 2008 incide per Radiodervish nell’album “L’immagine di te” il pezzo in Griko dal titolo “Yara”. Nel 2012 per il maestro Ludovico Einaudi scrive il testo per la celebre composizione “Nuvole bianche” presentata al concerto de “La Notte della Taranta”, in altri festival come il “BT River” di Londra e pubblicata nel 2015 come secondo singolo del suo album “Taranta Project”. Scelta dal compositore Admir Shkurtaj come voce popolare per l’opera da camera “kater i rades. Il Naufragio”, co-prodotta da la Biennale di Venezia e Koreja, debutta il 12 ottobre 2014 al 58° festival internazionale di Musica Contemporanea de la Biennale di Venezia. Nel 2015 entra a far parte del Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino.
